The WebAuth app essentially serves as Proton Wallet 2.0 – faster, more powerful, and more secure than before, but built by the same team that you know and trust. And much like its predecessor, it is a non-custodial wallet - meaning the Private Keys are stored locally on your device.
⚠️ If you are planning to migrate your Proton Wallet account to the WebAuth app, we strongly recommend backing up your private key before proceeding.
- IMPORTANT: Backup your Private Key from the WebAuth Wallet
Step 1: Open WebAuth on your device.
Step 2: Tap on the ‘Login’ link on the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: Click 'Import Account'
Step 4: Enter your private key or mnemonic phrase in the field provided.
Step 5: Your Proton account has been restored on WebAuth from your private key!
Step 6 (optional): If you are trying to recover from an iCloud backup, please contact Client Services.
⚠️ Proton staff cannot see or recover your Private Key. If you do not write it down, you will not be able to restore access to your WebAuth mobile account and your funds will be permanently lost. Click here to learn how to keep your private key(s) secure.
